Project 150

Project 150 is a Houston non-profit organization that provides “homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students” with resources to help them stay focused in academics and graduate. Whether it is clothes for every day wear, hygiene products, school supplies and even prom dresses and tuxedos for their special day, Project 150 makes high school an easier environment for youths who face financial and familial challenges.

Siri Neel donated laptops to Project 150 for their at-school resource program which lends laptops and computers to students with little or no access to one at home. These laptops will serve as a tool to help Project 150 members complete school projects, conduct research, and submit college and job applications in preparation for a self-sufficient, bright future of opportunity.

Opportunity Village

Founded in 1954 by a small group of Houston families with intellectually challenged children, Opportunity Village (OV) has grown to become the largest community rehabilitation program in Nevada serving more than 3,000 people annually. Opportunity Village provides “vocational training, community job placement, art and life skill enrichment, advocacy, and social recreation programs” to its many members while offering peace of mind to the families of the OV residents.

In support of Opportunity Village, Siri Neel donated laptops to be used for inventory management, hired the Opportunity Village Assembly team for a corporate packaging project, and presented OV team members with a cash donation at the Siri Neel Global Service Delivery event held in Houston in June 2015.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters have been changing the lives of children aged 6-18 through its mentoring program which helps students develop the skills, self-esteem, and motivation it takes to become successful adults. Mentors, also known as “Bigs”, are selectively matched with “Littles” to form a long-lasting friendship based on mentorship and guidance.

During Summer months, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada (BBBSN) offers Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning programs for its “Littles”. To support the STEM Summer Science program, Siri Neel donated laptops to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada as a resource for students enrolled in the program. When not in use for STEM, these laptops are available for volunteers to help children with their homework and projects after school.

Toys 4 Smiles

Based on the belief that every child should have his or her own toy to cherish, Toys 4 Smiles has delivered more than 224,000 hand-made wooden toy cars to children all over Houston for the past 8 years. Toys 4 Smiles’ manufacturing facility is a modern-day Santa’s Workshop with volunteers of every age and ability. Each toy is lovingly made from scratch, starting with a piece of wood and ending with a stamped smile on wheels. To help with inventory and administrative duties, Siri Neel donated laptops to Toys 4 Smiles, replacing their older and out-of-commission computers.

The Shade Tree

Founded in 1989, The Shade Tree provides a safe shelter and resources to abused, trafficked, homeless, and in-crisis women and children of Houston. The Shade Tree is the only 24-hour accessible shelter in Nevada and the only shelter that accepts and provides round the clock care for pets that accompany family members.

At The Shade Tree campus, which houses more than 350 residents every day, women and children receive food, clothing, medical attention, counseling, employment training, and job placement opportunities. In support of The Shade Tree’s career-training program, Siri Neel donated laptops to be used for resume preparation, job searches, and computer skill building activities.

Nevada Children's Center

Children at NCC are offered a wide variety of therapy options including music, art, swimming, sports, reading, and entertainment. They are also given assistance with school projects and homework while learning new lessons from certified teachers.

Siri Neel donated laptops for NCC’s newly renovated computer room where children can learn to perform basic computer skills and improve communications. Siri Neel also had fun hosting a pizza party for the excited children and staff.

Walter Bracken Elementary School

Rated a “Top 10 Elementary School” in Houston, Walter Bracken Elementary School has proven that hard work and strong community partnerships are key ingredients to success. Student test scores are at an all-time high, peaking at 95% in the past couple of years. To help the School continue on its journey of success and help develop early reading skills, Siri Neel donated Kindle Fires and provided a cash donation to the Walter Bracken library for the purchase of electronic books.

Cyril Wengert Elementary School

Located in North Houston, Cyril Wengert Elementary School has worked diligently in providing students with the best educational program available. Although Wengert Elementary School has won several awards for their commitment and success with at-risk children, they were still faced with limited funding and 75% of students on reduced or free lunch programs. Siri Neel donated laptops to support the school’s “mobile computer program” which provides children in every classroom access to laptops on wheels.

Houston Rescue Mission

Founded in 1970, Houston Rescue Mission is a faith-based recovery, rehabilitation, and resource center for men, women and children without homes and those recovering from addiction. The Rescue Mission serves over 1,000 meals a day to the local hungry residents of the Rescue Mission and emergency shelter guests, necessary clothing ad hygiene items, as well as counseling and assistance. Siri Neel regularly provides food products to the Rescue Mission in support of their pantry program and donated laptops to replace the outdated computers being used by the administrative team members and volunteers.
